trip down memory lane

we spent part of last weekend in our family home in batangas and i really had a good share of fresh air-- literally and figuratively.. i was just a tad bid disappointed because i wasn't able to take pictures...

anyway, while there i got some albums--mine, my brothers' and other loose photos from all over and scanned them and put them over our family's web site.. i had fun seeing our childhood photos and old photos of our dad and mom and grandparents... many thousands of miles away from me, thanks to the internet, i also shared that happiness with my brothers and their loved ones.. and now, happy and fresh from a short vacation..i have to get back to work..

finally, after several missed calls i was able to pick up eric's phonecall on time. i missed his calls because of the new maid.. you see, it's like this, i have 2 phones in my work station, one local and the other one for U.S. and Canada calls. So, the phone had been ringing and going ---and since this vampire sleeps till midday, the new maid would be the only possible grown-up who'll be picking up the calls-- and so i asked, sino ba yung kanina pa tumatawag? and then she goes, kanina pa nga tawag ng tawag ate eh, pag sinasagot ko naman wala namang sumasagot, nagriring pa din! then i go, ha? nagriring pa din kahit sinagot mo na? teka teka, ibig mong sabihin nasa tenga mo na yung hand set nag-riring pa din? then she goes, oo nga eh, bakit kaya ayaw na ngang sumagot nagriring pa? wahhhhhhhhhhh i figured she was picking up the local phone and of course nobody was on the other end because it was the other phone beside it that was actually ringing since yesterday!! hayy jusmiyo! gisingin ka ba ng ganito, matutuwa ka? hmph itinawa ko na nga lang.. then opened up my e-mail, and there i confirmed that it was actually eric who had been calling..

while i was about to start opening up the other unread stuff in my mail, the green(international) phone rang, and sure enough it was eric again.. he was busy and will call in later.. his flight out will be tomorrow morning and was checking if i was good to go for a bunch of demand letters.. of course i was..

buti na lang nakausap ko, kungdi imbyerna ang byuti ko kay rosa mistica, our new maid's screen name and of course she is chona's relative.. hehehhe huy, not that dinidiscrimate ko sha because of her job ha, rose i mean, kaya lang, 3 days pa lang sha and she has this.. i dunno.. hehehe di ko maexplain... oh well, to borrow a lil sumptin from my friend, sheila , sometimes i don't have patience is a virtue! hahahaha

on tourism and preserving our cultural heritage

something i've written on the pinoy forum

i have nothing against tourism, i know it will help our economy.. and besides theres nothing wrong in having other people appreciate our own..per se..

it's just that in the process, many of our cultural heritage and cultures get 'compromised' in the process. commercialism does take its toll on the traditional arts that in my opinion, need to be 'preserved'. the tourists actually are not the MAIN culprit, but somehow, the promotion of tourism and commercialism forcibly invades and in extreme cases eradicate these dying cultures and art.

For example, I have been visiting the cordilleras since the early 90s.. and writing about and studying their culture-- the ifugaos, bontocs, sagadans, kalingas.. i've seen buildings slowly getting near the bontoc traditional village where their traditional weavers are, and the last year, the buildings are already in front of this used-to-be-great village, now in tatters. heck i even had a hard time looking for their 'main' weaver because she had to stop weaving and tend to the grandchildren because the mother of the kids was working as a saleslady in those buildings.. arghhh.. and you know what? this weaver i'm talking about was supposed to be the next winner of the national commission for culture and the arts, national artist for this category. hayyyy...

if their main weaver is not weaving anymore, and nobody is teaching younger generation bontocs this wonderful art, this traditional art is doomed..

eric is o.k.

yeps, eric is okay.. turns out that he did fly in earlier, but was still somewhere up north for some business.. he called early this morning, but of course, vampire me was still asleep.. the new 'kasama' kept answering our local phone and was wondering why the ringing wouldn't stop hehehe she was picking up the local phoneline and not the 'other' line that was ringing hehehe.. oh well..

eric will be here on saturday or sunday.. saturday would be a problem for noreen since she has somethin up on that day.. and sunday.. dad and ronell will be celebrating their birthday and norman's again, with mang boy and the rest of the boys heheheh inuman na namang matindi ito..

ano kaya pulutan.. pulutan na lang kaya ako.. tama.. mag tropicana na lang nga ako.. meron kaming tinda.. Php 9. lang.. orange or lychee apple.. hehehehe o kaya gatorade.. Php 30. alam ko na.. nutrilicious mango na lang! tama! kaya lang wala kaming bentang ganun. para sa akin lang yun hehehehe isang karton bili ko .. chaka cold green iced tea.. di kaya sumakit chan ko nito?

ang pancit malabon ni dad and ok ok.. yung big one kay dad, yung small one kay ok-ok. yung nasa right maja blanca special.. one for dad, one for ok-ok..

kay ok-ok yung square na cake--na naging rectangle na kasi kinain na.. o inuwi ni met-met hahaha kay daddy yung round one na parang pacman..yung rectangle almond sumptin sumptin.. yung round, my favorite! caramel cake!

birthday telebabad

so, daddy decided to spend their birthday here in our place. yep, we're celebrating my brother's birthday as well as though he was here, even if he's several thousands of miles away. =)

we had two birthday cakes and two bilao's of pancit malabon. we had fruit salad, majablanca-- na super sarap, made by my sister noemi, prawns, inihaw na talakitok, and inihaw na piggy, etc etc. we forgot to get pepsi from the store-- oo pepsi drinkers na kami ngayon.. hehehe dati we wouldn't drink any soda but coke, but lately, my sister noreen and i seem to be leaning more on the new generation drink hehehe i dunno why, maybe mas matamis kasi?

after eating and talking about classical nothings, we called norman to greet him. he was about to go to work, ay actually i was talking to him while he was brushing his teeth.. hehehe weird ba? and so we went on chit-chatting and was again happy talking about nothing really.. =) he was monologuing while driving .. shet, bakit ganito.. traffic... ate may banggaan yata dito sa freeway.. ambagal eh.. ayun... ok na .. buti na lang maaga ka pumasok.. hindi talagang maaga ako pumapasok 'te. the guy before sa work, was fired out coz he always comes in 30minutes late. so ako, i come in 30minutes early.. and so we were talking forever till he arrived in his workplace..

i then decided to take pictures of his cake, and their other handa.. kahit na wala na halos natira.. ay actually we didn't finish dad's pancit malabon so okster's bilao was still untouched hehee..

and now, i'll borrow muna her phone, kahit di ko alam pano maglagay lagay ng bluetooth thingie.. hehehe bahala na.. later..

happy birthday daddy and okster!

hey it's my dad and lil brother's birthday today. my dad is somewhere in merville at this moment.. and my brother is somewhere in vegas.. hmm.. i think i better sleep to get a piece of action later hehehe sana sa dampa na lang kami kain.. i miss the chili crab and the buttered tahong.. sana rin ok c eric, namashal lang sana sa kung saan, at sana tumawag na at nang makasama sa dampa.. hehehe but he only likes to eat kenny rogers when he's in manila.. hates fatty foods daw.. anyway.. happy birthday daddy!! happy birthday norman!!

where in the world is eric?

i'm really worried about my boss.. he was supposed to have arrived in manila 3 days ago. he's not in vegas, otherwise he would have answered his phone wherever he was.. you see he's a hardworking guy.. sobrang workaholic, so much so that he forwards all his calls from his home or office to his cell whenever he's on the go. he's always reachable even when he's in manila, ngayon di ko na sha mareach ha.. and yesterday i was calling his mobile phone and it was unattended.. definitely not him at all.. i'm really worried...totoo na ito..

i have to stop working to start working again!!

it's 4:45am here and i really have to stop working now and get a few winks... if i don't i won't be able to work tomorrow morning...

while werking earlier, i was watching tv.. but i was so busy that i didn't notice that it was already dark outside and that the tv was still tuned in to cartoon network.. arghh! i missed spirits, kristala, hiram... then, sabi ko dibale na... abot pa ako sa lovers in paris.. kaya lang.. yayks tapos na pala lovers in paris.. hay naku..

i saw this new korean ba yan or taiwanese teleserye, save the last dance for me--which seems to be similar to hiram ha.. i mean from the teasers last week, it seems like that the guy there will also have an amnesia and would have to choose between two loves.. recycled?? which one kaya the pinoy or the chekwa version ang gaya-gaya?

anyway, after that another teleserye naman. kay diether ocampo and yung real life girlfriend nya, whose name i can't remember at the moment, basta .. heheh maaalala ko din yun.. the title is till death do us part.. tungkol naman po ito sa isang pair na parehas ikakasal and seem to keep bumping in with each other till parang nagka-feeling na for each other, then parehas umatras sa kani-kanilang mga kasal. embalsamador si lalake. makeup artist si babae.. ewan ko na.. di ko na tinapos..

nainis na naman ako at bakit wala sila vivian and carlo..hmpf.. and naisip ko.. bakit dalawa na ang teleserye na bago.. teka ano ba ang natapos din last week.. star circle quest o hiram.. nakuuuu.. don't tell me hiram.. jusmeee... hehehhee eto nangyayari pag sa bahay ka nagwewerk, kung ano ano napapanood heheheh buti na lang.. enjoy ako. eh ano kung baduy? che! chona will agree, jealousy lang kayo, pero wala akong paki kasi confidence ako! heheheheh
